Shelf life & Will compostable bags degrade in my warehouse?
Compostable mailers won’t degrade in your warehouse. They require moisture, temperature, and microorganisms to break down, so they stay intact until composted.
For best results, store mailers in a cool, dry, dark place, away from the sun and moisture, at room temperature (up to 30°C). We pack your mailers in additional compostable bags for extra protection.
We offer a 9-month shelf life guarantee and recommend you buy for a maximum 9-month usage period.
What exactly makes these bags compostable?
Our mailers are compostable due to the certified and natural material we use. Material is corn-starch based, and it is produced in Croatia. This material is certified both industrially and home compostable.
Are the bags compatible with shipping labels and adhesives?
Yes, our mailers work with all standard labels and stickers – everything sticks even better than on plastic or paper bags. For a fully eco-friendly solution, we recommend using eco-friendly labels and stickers so your customers can toss the entire packaging into the compost, hassle-free.
Can my customers compost these bags at home, or do they need special facilities?
Mailers can simply be composted at home – just like organic waste. After unpacking the order, your customers can place the mailers in compost or bio-waste bin, where mailer will naturally break down.
These mailers leave no microplastics, they actually enrich the compost and soil. To compost properly, simply remove any non-compostable adhesive strips, labels, or stickers.
Will the bags break down in landfills if not disposed of properly?
If these mailers end up in a landfill, they will break down, but more slowly.
But although our mailers are completely sustainable, and won’t harm nature or wildlife, they should never be carelessly thrown away. We only encourage proper disposal – composting or using a bio-waste bin – to ensure complete breakdown and no pollution.
Will compostable bags protect my products from water and damage during shipping?
Yes, these compostable mailers are tear-resistant and provide strong protection during shipping, similar to plastic packaging.
Keep in mind, they are not suitable for fragile items, and unlike plastic bags, which last for centuries, these mailers are designed for 6-12 months of durability, ensuring they break down naturally after use.
What long-term impact will using compostable bags have on our brand image?
